5010 Compliance not delayed, only enforcement.
What does the announced delay in enforcement really mean?
While the OESS is choosing to delay issuing penalties for a 90-day period, the compliance date for the 5010 is still January 1, 2012. Additionally the intermediaries have mandated as of November 1, 2011 that unless you are sending in the 5010 you cannot enroll any new providers with CMS or electronic processing. This means that if you are not sending claims in the 5010 you will not get paid for new providers.
